This is what works for me --- CC Fig, with a little bit of 613, Fig and 613 styling cream, Guarnier leave in smoothing conditioner, Pom serum, fig/TT oil --- all used in that order.
Don't squeeze or scrunch your hair when wet. Only press your hair to your head.
Then two or three blots with a microfiber rag from Costco. I finish up with LA Looks sports gel and a little bit of Pom mousse.
I plop up my hair for 15 - 30 minutes in a rayon cloth, could use a t-shirt also. Don't touch your hair again until it is completely dry. I always and only air dry. Works every time.
Do you use 1 pump of fig Styling cream and 1 pump of 613 styling cream both at the same time?

Yes, usually a small pump of the 613 styling cream first, depends on how my hair feels and I might add a little bit more 613 to get more slip. After I get the 613 throughout my hair I add a regular pump of fig.
When I first tried the 613 styling cream I used a full pump. After a few times I was able to use a smaller amount.
re plopping:
When I plop my hair I lay the fabric (rectangular piece) on the bed, put my forehead at the edge of the fabric closest to me (along the edge of the bed.) Then take the two corners of that edge, wrap around my head front to back and tie them at the base of my head in back.
Then I take the corners of the other edge, drape that edge up and over the top of my head, wrap around the back and tie up front on the top. Kind of looks like a Rosie the Riveter style. This would work with a silk scarf also, but not with thick material.
Another step I have seen on Waterlily716 youtube and suggested by a few others also. Take a small section of your hair, wrap it around your finger (kind of like twirling your finger), then let your hair drop off your finger. Do this all the way around your head. Kind of hard to describe. There are several youtube videos on this. I find that my curls clump better if I do this before plopping my hair.
I learned a lot from Waterlily716 and other curly girl youtube videos.
