@Citrine1   yes butthat was a thing as teens. I found flat toothpicks worked better!

now i keep some dry, clean mascara wands handy!

I'm not putting a pin anywhere near my eyes.  Yikes!

I did the safety pin thing when I was much younger, now I care more about my health than my looks so would never do that now.

I use that Tweezerman comb and/or a safety pin.  It's important to use a metal comb not plastic.

Of course not...it's just what we did when we were young and silly   Thinking about it now I'm freaked out!

I also used a paper clip that was pulled apart.

Of course...I would not get a pin or anything sharp within a foot of my eyes now!

There's an older (2007) movie, Charlie Wilson's War with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts.  At one point Julia is putting on mascara and separates her lashes with a safety pin.

I laughed when I saw it thinking it must be universally known that it works.  My husband was stunned.

It's a good movie if you ever have the chance to watch it.

@SoCal Bred    I too used a pin to separate the lashes if they clumped.    The only difference in it is now I would surely poke myself as I do not see well without glasses.    I would end up being Popeye now!
