Re: How to apply mascara from clumping

Guess I've been lucky...never had clumping with mascara.

There are tiny dental brush picks that separate lashes and work like spoolies. They are less dangerous than hat pins.😁

Re: How to apply mascara from clumping

I wear false lashes now but for all the years using mascara, I used a safety pin to separate my lashes.

@Citrine1

LOL, no you're not the only one. Everyone I've ever told that I used a safety pin to separate my lashes clutched their heart

Re: How to apply mascara from clumping

I have used the Tweezerman metal comb, but I still need to be very careful. I accidentally poked my eye with it once.

Neutrogena Healthy Definition mascara has a wand that separates lashes as it coats, but it doesn't deposit a lot of product. If you prefer a light application of mascara that might work. I've actually used it after applying my other mascara to separate lashes. It works well for that if you do it right away before the first mascara dries.

@wilma, you're right about needing to be careful with the lash combs, any of them.  Mine was probably Revlon or Maybelline.  I had never heard of Tweezerman back whe I bought mine.  With that type, I've found it easier to go in from above the upper lashes.  I'm less likely to poke my eye that way.  You can even slightly close the eye to make it less likely that way.

Proxabrushes.  I think it would probably be cheaper to just buy one of the bundles of 50 or 100 disposable mascara wands on Amazon.  I use them to apply color to my brows, but I just wash and re-use them.  I think they're sturdy enough to sanitize an re-use.

I'd be careful about re-using the proxabrushes if you sanitze them.  They have a tendency to lose individual bristles and you don't want one of those in your eye.  They used to drive me crazy when one would get stuck between my teeth and I couldn't find it to remove it.

Re: How to apply mascara from clumping

I have used the lash combs before after applying mascara to separate my lashes but I quit using it due to the comb was pulling out my lashes as well.
