How is lipstick application over Carmex lip balm?

I'm going to be picking up Carmex for a winter vacation and am wondering how lisptic application is over it? Does it take away the color completely or not apply at all, or is there hardly any difference?

Re: How is lipstick application over Carmex lip balm?

I've tried Carmex awhile back....it is similar to vaseline in texture. Lipstick on top doesn't work.
If you want a protective lip balm, maybe consider one of the tinted ones, that way you dont have to use a lipstick. I'm using Beekmans tinted lip balm, and sometimes the clear, and I still can apply my lipstick over. I use a light layer of the balm, maybe 1 or 2 swipes, that way my lipstick goes on nicely. Carmex is thick and gooey....may be great by itself. I also like Burtsbees, and Blistex.

@Glorimar  Another colored lip balm to look at is FRESH.  Sold at Nordstrom & free shipping.  FRESH use to be on QVC, so sorry they are no longer with the Q.

I never had good luck with lipstick over Carmex.  If you want protection, you might look into the Burt’s Bees tinted balms.

I use Burt's Bees lip balms or their lip tints instead of lipsticks.

I put lipstick on top of O'Keefe's Lip Balm with no trouble.  I don't use primer or liner though.

Carmex comes in two formulas, they vaseline type and the chapstick type.

Lipstick works fine over the chapstick type.

@Glorimar   If you enjoy your Carmex or other lip balm in winter and have a favorite lipstick, I have melted equal parts of each in a glass measuring cup in the microwave...watch carefully...it goes quickly. When melted, pour it back into Carmex or another container, refrigerate for an hour until set. Your own personal colored lip treatment. ***I’ve also done this w/ Burt’s Bees.
