How do you use styling creme and VTS?

Chaz suggested that the styling creme be combined with 4-5 squirts of VTS before applied. However, he also said that styling creme should be kept in the shower and applied to soaking wet hair after cleansing. So is the VTS also supposed to be applied in the shower?

It would be much easier for me if I could just get out of the shower, lightly towel my hair, and then combine the styling creme and VTS and put them in my hair.

What do you guys do?
