@amyb wrote:Hi @Laura14 I've used eyelash curlers since high school...same way...I would be using the same brand (Maybelline) if I could still find them or they were made as good as then, but anyway, currently have a Revlon, manual that works fine.
I basically, before applying my mascara, hold it, then I, gently, pump several times...sometimes I then hold it again.
I have no big system to doing it. I just pump and also, as Mally once showed....I occasionally will move up and down the lashes maybe once or twice...meaning, I curl at the base, then midway, then the ends...that works nicely too. But most days I'm just quick about it and just pump, pump, hold, pump, pump, pump and done.
Btw...just fyi for anyone who considers getting a heated one....I don't do this often, and be careful if you do, (just as you'd have to be careful if you had a heated eyelash curler)...you can get the same effect by aiming your blow dryer at your (assuming its) metal curler, let it cool a second, then use it...same effect.
I hope that helps! You'll get the knack...it's not that complicated.
I absolutely love my heated one. It's not the kind where you squeeze your lashes, and it has 4 heat settings. It's very gentle heat and I don't have to worry about pinching my eyelid, which I often did with both squeezing types I have.

I've been using an eyelash curler since I was a teen! I can remember my dad making comments about me torturing my eyes!! LOL!
I will turn the hair dryer on my eyelash curler to heat it up for a few seconds but I don't let it get too hot. It's like a heated hair curler which gives it more curl when warm.
Then I will hold it tightly in place for 30 seconds or so before putting on mascara. I never use it after I apply mascara because it's a good way to pull out lashes that will stick to the curler if coated with mascara.

@JeanLouiseFinch Sounds we use the same method!

@Icegoddess Which one do you use? I've never used a heated one.

@sueinsf The one I use is not currently available, but I think this is a new version of it, same company. Ayasal on Amazon.
