I keep my daily makeup brushes in a ""mom"" mug my kids painted for me at a pottery store. I keep my extras standing in wide mason jar.

Check out the desk accessories and kitchen organizer sections as well as drawer organizer section at the discount stores. Artist brush storage sections are great, too, but some can be pricey. Lots of great ideas when you look at them through a lens of makeup storage use. I store my eye shadow brushes in a gadget made for artist brushes. I store my large brushes in a spinning carousel similar to what you see for large kitchen cooking utensils. I'll try to come back later and post pictures.

I used to store them upright in one of those purse organizers from QVC, along with extra makeup, but after awhile I noticed they were dust collectors. Now I put the extras in a zip lock bag in a drawer and put the ones I use in a Caboodle that has my every day basics.

I have 2 cute mugs from Anthro. I store the ones I use most in one, and the oddball ones in another.

I purchased a 3 drawer plastic container at Walmart for my makeup & brushes. I keep it in my linen closet which is located in my bathroom. It's perfect. Did not cost a lot of money and keep the brushes out of the air/dust. It's 9-1/2" high, 10-1/2" width and the depth is 12".

target $1 spot has cute mini baskets and things that I pick up often. Right now mine has mini laundry basket style containers that I've used for my brushes. I'm currently using clezned out and spray painted BBW candle holders for my brushes.
