How do you get the powder back in the sifter holes?

Hi, I'm new to BE. I got a sample size of I think pure radiance. I somehow got a ton of the powder above the holes and it doesn't seem to want to fall back through. I was going to attempt to lift the sifter thing but I was afraid stuff would go everywhere. Any suggestions? I've tried to gently rock the container and coax it back through, but it just makes a big mess.
