How do I keep a large jar of face cream fresh?

Help me out folks. I got in on that great PTR 3.4 oz cream last week. It says it will keep for 24 months after it's opened, but with all that opening and closing, how can I keep the actives fresh? Would you split it up and put half of it in another jar?

TIA - all suggestions appreciated!
