How do I get my natural-curly-hair back?

I'm on medication for "Low Thyroid". I used to have "Natural Curly" hair and never had to use rollers, curling iron or anything like that, and my hair has gotten very dry and thin too. But the thing that "upsets " me "TERRIBLY" is that my hair is perfectly straight now!!!!! I desperately want my "Natural Curly" hair back!!! What can I do...anyone relate to this problem??? Thanks a lot.
