How different are the LAV and SAM styling cremes?

I talked with someone from Chaz Dean customer service who said that the styling creme formulas were so much alike that it didn't matter which one I selected and suggested I select based on scent. I went with the SAM thinking it would combine with everything else the best, although scent is not an issue for me.

Reading the boards, I get the impression that the styling creme ingredients are different and that they might perform differently. I am not unhappy with the SAM styling creme, but do you think that the LAV is noticeably different?
