Re: How Long to Keep your Eyeshadow?

In addition to wiping off the surface of powder products, you can also spritz them periodically with alcohol. I do this  a couple of times a year, same with lipsticks.

Re: How Long to Keep your Eyeshadow?

Like most everyone else, I keep my powdered shadows for as long as I want then. I have some BE pots that I bet I've had since the company started. I still use most of them. The creams and liquids usually dry up before I've used them up so they get tossed.

Until I use them up or am so tired of them I toss them.

I don't ever toss eyeshadows because I think they are germy.

Wheww. So glad someone said it before I did!

I have a palatte of Christian Dior shadows purchased somewhere around 1987. A little went a long way in applying them so I still use a color on occasion.

I often wonder if the current CD shadows go on as easily and last as long but they are way too expensive now for me to buy.

Wow! I feel kind of foolish having thrown some out that were just a couple years old. I like the tips for spritzing with alcohol and wiping down with a tissue.  Thank you ladies!

I do not keep eyeshadows around long and don't have too many of them either as I don't use them much. I have 3 identical Quo 4 eyeshadow palettes because the colors are matte and light shades. They were bought on clearance about a year ago to 6 months ago.

I do not think it foolish to toss eyeshadow that is a couple of years old. I would not use old eyeshadow. This keeps me from buying a lot because I cannot use that much before it gets old.

Re: How Long to Keep your Eyeshadow?

I keep mine for a long time.  The ones I LOVE I buy in multiples concerned that they may be discontinued or always out of stock.

I wear the older browns brow on days I'm at home and save the ones I love for work.

The last time the Lancome counter at Macy's had a gift with purchase, I sheepishly told the saleslady I had held onto a pressed powder eyeshadow for 5 years because Lancome had discontinued the color. I sadly told her I was fishing the crumbs from around the rim of it now. She laughed and said she still had Lancome powder eyeshadows and blushes, some dating back to the late 1990's!

I experiment with a lot of brands since I keep them a fairly long time, but one I've had a problem with even though I like the colors is Clinique. I don't know what it is about them, but they always develop a crust on them I have to scrape off. Yuk!

I really hate it when they discontinue my favorite colors! @grammarqueen
