@Katcat1 wrote:@gertrudecloset First of all you are not wearing foundation on your chest. It is best to test on your face near the jaw line and if it blends in that is your shade. I know Clinique offers several shades in a test pamphlet but I am not sure about others. So it is best to go into a Nordstrom or Sephora. Test out at least 3 shades and select the one that blends in to your skin tone.
@Katcat1 Yeah, no....
That's not the theory. When you have varying degrees of a shade LIKE I DO (face/neck/chest) you want it to look seamless. This is especially true in warmer months. You should take a look at youtube videos and listen to what the experts say. Neck/center of chest just under neck for your foundation. You would look so three toned. You want it to look "together." Well "I" do anyway. Hahahahahahahaha.

Good luck! I can't use matte any more. I have to use something more moisturizing and then if I need to get rid of a bit of shine, I just powder a bit! I'm always experimenting....

@gertrudecloset My recommendation was based on the info that your chest was lighter than your face. Purchasing foundation that's lighter that your actual skintone can look pale snd unnatural. Not many influencers are actual MUAs. Maybe you can consult someone at counter about foundation matching. Going 1/2 shade lighter may be OK, but not what I would suggest.
I also suggest a good spf so you face does not get sun which is most likely the reason it is darker than the rest of your body which is clothed and protected.

lots of color correctors on sephora and ulta right? I don't do all of this though. You gals take your makeup game serious. I'm not in your league.
@gertrudecloset In all due respect, you ARE taking it seriously if willing to wear a lighter face foundation to match your neck and arms.

I don't wear heavy foundation anymore. I just use a tinted moisturizer. I'm fair skinned and I always match to my face. My neck and face are the same color. I've used SPF daily on both since I was a teen so maybe that's why. My chest is a bit darker but I don't think it's that noticeable. Sometimes if I'm wearing a lower v-neck top I use a bit of a color correcting powder there to even it out.

I match my face. In the summer I can go a bit darker. I am in that medium warm category. Blend, Blend, Blend, and then Blend some more. I also use JM Perfect and Protect and it's a one fits all, although I know it doesn't and people complain about it being orange on them. On me, it blends so well and looks sheer and natural. I love that stuff.

@Shanus I know. That's the basis for my query. Trying to find the perfect "medium." There are stark differences in my coloring (face) vs. (neck) vs. (chest). Yeah, I know that's my problem.
Another problem is though Fenty has a lot of shades I've tried one to match face and it did ok. Don't get that seamless look from face to neck. Then if in warmer months when you get more sun (though I don't) and you're not wearing button ups my face, neck, chest all look a different shade. Trying to find the right balance for me has been a challenge.
I did do two different foundations for Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer.

That was a compliment @Shanus . I'm not in you're league about make up how to's and all of the other stuff I see you ladies use. I just want a simple foundation.

@KBEANS What are you blending? I just want a nice coverage with no oxidation, a lippie and an eyebrow pencil as I almost have no eyebrows now.
