Nailtiques formula 2 is my HG product. I can't be without it. I finally have nails that don't tear on the sides and I only had to wait 54 years !!! LOL

Hand cream 2-3x day. Crabtree & Evelyn avocado also their rosewater.

Nailtiques 2. Problem is i'm often too lazy to swipe that on.

But when I do that one-two punch it really works.

Ever try argon oil? What I have found that I like even better is coconut oil and you can find it in your natural food stores or even WMart. It can be used for everything from cooking to moisturizing your dry hands. Check out all the benefits on-line and I think you will be impressed. HTH.

Re: Help with fingernails breaking this winter

I agree with the ladies here on keeping your hands moisturized. I started using Nailtiques Formula 2 plus about a month ago. And all I can say is WOW!!! I had Salon nails for about 20 years and gave that up 3 years ago. I have never had good, strong nails until now! This stuff is AWESOME.{#emotions_dlg.thumbup} After about 3 days my nails were already harder and stronger. Rarely do I have one that breaks, splits, etc. I still can't believe I have nice nails! Good Luck in your search.

Hard As Hoof Nail Strengthening Cream has helped my nails immensely. I bought this in the beginning of December after reading about it here. Let me tell you, it WORKS! My nails had been weak and peeling. I had one thumb nail that would never grow long enough for anything. Well, now it is a nice, normal nail that does not peel or split. I massage this cream into my cuticles and nail bed and under the nail. Consistency is the key here. Keep it by my table in the den while watching television or reading, and do this nightly. I also just buff my nails to a natural shine, a couple of times a week. This has helped to remove those annoying ridges you can get (Revlon Crazy Shine Buffer)! I found the cream at Walmart ($5) and the Revlon Buffer at Target ($4 or under).

I now have nails that I have had to trim because of their length! Amazing to me! Don't expect miracles overnight. You have to be consistent. I am now reaching the end of the one ounce jar. I no longer want to mess with manicures, costly and would rather spend my money on clothes (Big Linea fan here). Hope this helps. I can only speak from my experience. Google it and read the other reviews as well.

I have to try this. Thanks so much for posting.

Re: Help with fingernails breaking this winter

I found a product at Whole Foods that is incredible and it's about $8. NutraNail, nail growth serum. No nasties in the ingredient deck and it soaks right into your nails. It's Ina Polish like bottle and you brush it on. I couldn't believe how it moisturized my nails after one use. I'm hooked.

Re: Help with fingernails breaking this winter

In addition to keeping your hands and nails moisturized with lotions and oils, wearing gloves while washing dishes and cleaning with chemicals, have you considered using SLS (sodium laurel/laureth sulfate) free soaps? SLS strips natural oils. Switching to SLS free products has made the biggest difference in my skin and nails Smiley Happy For the first time in years, my fingernails are not splitting, breaking or tearing (I don't use fingernail polish).

I am having success w/Dior Crème Abricot, cuticles are in great shape and nails aren't breaking. I am also hypothyroid so that makes nails ridges and dryness.

Re: Help with fingernails breaking this winter

I have been using Nailtiques for years and my nails never break even if they are in water a lot. You can buy it at CVS and there are different strengths to select from depending on your nail problem. I have tried other products over the years and nothing works like Nailtiques. Also, just as a side note, how are your vitamin d levels? Low vitamin d can cause problems with your nails too.

I also recommend the Nailtiques formula 2. I have tried a lot of different nail products and this is the only one that has stopped my nails from peeling and breaking,
