Has anyone tried RPR treatment for female hairloss?

I am experiencing female pattern hairloss. I already saw my primary care doctor and had thyroid testing and other blood work which came back normal. I was doing some research online and came upon PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy. I have been using minoxidil and the Igrow helmet (light therapy) for some time which seemed to be working for a while but now I can see more scalp again. I know it is expensive and don't know if anyone has experienced this treatment with good results and how long do the results last? Did you go to a dermatologist for this treatment or did you go to a hairloss clinic or medispa?

Re: Has anyone tried RPR treatment for female hairloss?

I have alopecia and am at the end (hopefully) of a major flare. My last flare was 3 years ago--almost exactly.  I've lost about 60% of my hair this time.  I went to the dermatologist and I got lucky with one that has many alopecia patients.

I started with injections.  Last time they worked quickly.  This time I got them much sooner in the flare, and they didn't do much.  About 45 days ago, he put me on predisone and the hair loss decreased to about 1/4 what it was (on a daily basis).  I have some regrowth which I'm very happy to see.  I also did the Igrow light treatments.  I don't know if it contributed or not.  But I'm not losing nearly as much hair and its starting to grow back.  Last time, I had 100% regrowth.

I personally think it is a cycle for me, but I have no idea what triggers it.  It starts in February and goes 6 months.  I wear a lot of 'toppers' and clip in pony tails.

I have never tried the treaments you asked about, but I did ask my derm and he doesn't recommend them.

@Hope47

I have not had that done.

But, do you mind telling me how you use your iGrow? Do you use any fill-in powder, for instance the Joan Rivers Great Hair Day?

I used my iGrow for almost 2 years and it only helped me keep some of my hair from falling out but it did not really make any new hair regrow. So I finally invested in a CapillusPro (top of the line) laser cap and I have seen more hair regrowth from using it...more than anything else I have ever used.  You can try one risk-free for 12 months and I highly recommend it. I've had a lifetime of hair loss issues. Tried many things.

Re: Has anyone tried RPR treatment for female hairloss?

Last nite on HSN, they said to use the Capillus cap for 6 minutes a day, wondering if you can benefit from using it longer than 6 minutes? I have not invested in any of these lasers, since I keep Toppik fibers in my hair at all times, so the lasers would not penetrate. HSN has a 6 month return policy on the Capillus, quite an investment at $1700 plus tax.

Never heard of it. My hair is also thinning. Asked 2 doctors about it which did absolutely nothing. Just what I expected. If mine thins too much on top I will have to shave my head. I'm not walking around with a comb over. It is what it is. I guess I can wear a do rag.

@Shelbelle

I spoke with a hair loss specialist, a doctor, before I bought my CapillusPro cap and he recommended using a hair laser every other day instead of every day because the follicles become 'lazy', as he put it. He said the follicles need resting periods so that they can come back to a normal state rather than a laser-induced state of high energy so that the follicles can grow hair normally.

The Capillus cap which HSN sells has 202 laser lights. Mine has 272 which is the most Capillus makes and the cost was $3K.  I use mine for 15 minutes straight on M-W-Fri. Hair has never looked this good.

I am thrilled for you, 3K to regrow my hair woud be well worth it, and no surgery. But, I know it wont work thru my Toppik, I had consulted Hair Max about it. Dr Denese endorsed Capillus.

The Capillus rep on HSN spoke about the injections last night.

What did he say about them? @Shelbelle

eta - I just watched the HSN video and he just mentioned that the shots need to be done at the doctor's office and that it was painful and that you need to go back regularly or lose your hair if you stop.

He brought out that there are only 3 kinds of FDA approved treatments to regrow the hair, Minoxidil, the injections which he said are very pricey and the lasers.
