Has anyone tried Flexi Rods? (No heat hair curlers)

I just heard about these. They look easy to use and are inexpensive. I have very thin, fine hair and have an extremely hard time getting my hair to hold a curl. I am also especially interested in these because they use no heat. I am looking at the ones on Amazon.

Any reviews?

Re: Has anyone tried Flexi Rods? (No heat hair curlers)

I bought something similar at Walmart - very large inexpensive foam roller w/a wire running thru the center. After one use the some of the wires broke.

I liked them, but the curl was too small for what I wanted and ended up tossing them for a set of Conair Magnetic rollers.

Did think about buying a second set and using several rollers on one piece of hair to get a larger curl. It was nice to use something that didn't require a clip to hold it in.

CinNC - They have some on Amazon that have all different sizes. Then once you figure out what size you need, you can order more of just those.

Thanks for the review. How did you like the magnetic ones? Are those heat free?

Flexi rods have been around for a while.  Not recently, but in the past a few times my stylist used flexis and a hood dryer to give my hair a spiral curl style.  They worked fine, but I wasn't that thrilled with the style on me.  I would imagine using the rods at home sans heat would take longer, but render similar results.

I've seen this type of roller everywhere curlers are sold (Sally, drugstores, Target etc.)

From what I understand, the style of curl depends on which size curler that you use.

Yes I'm sure they been around a long time but they are new to me 🙂

@Dreamchaser, everything is new to someone Woman Wink. If you like beachy waves and spiral curls these rolers are a very economical way to get those looks without investing in one of those $200 wave making curling irons. Yes, the size of the roller does matter to determine what kind of curl you get.  My stylist liked to use the really skinny ones on me because we were not only trying to get the spiral, but we were stretching out my tight natural curl.  When I had relaxed (straightened ) hair she used fatter flexis because didn't have to deal with straightening my hair, just creating the wave/spiral.

i have these in a small diameter but i use 2 or 3 together.  your hair will take FOREVER to dry if you wet set.

i do this a lot in the winter and when i have colored and my hair is too dry for heat i partially blow dry or air dry and then set in big sections. i get a nice body wave or beach wave - beach wave i use a beach waver product like John Frieda -  use as a setting spray

Image result for Flexi Rods

Flexi rods are soft and malleable.

The others are called perm rods.  They are hard, have a rubber band type closure and come in a multitude of colors and sizes.  These are the ones you can use those perm papers with....
