Re: Has Anyone Ever Sanitized Their EYESHADOW Palettes Using Isoprophyl Alcohol?

I read about this on line, that you lightly spray the eyeshadow with alcohol to kill bacteria and germs.  I recently purchased three new palettes and would love to extend their useful life but don't want to take a chance and ruin them.  Has anyone done this?  Has it changed or damaged the makeup?  If not, it would probably be good to do on bronzer, blush and face powders also.

@WindingRoad. Yes, besides washing brushes frequently, eye shadow palettes, blush, bronzers, stick shadow, lipsticks can all be cleaned w/ alcohol. Definitely use hand sanitizer before beginning to do your makeup and wipes can be used on stick foundation, waterproof eyeshadow sticks & the wands in lip glosses.

Re: Has Anyone Ever Sanitized Their EYESHADOW Palettes Using Isoprophyl Alcohol?

@Shanus  Wow. I don't recall the site  that I read mentioning spraying alcohol to disinfect lipsticks but boy, does that make sense.  Anything that comes in contact with eyes AND lips. And I always try to remember to wash my hands well just before applying makeup.  Funny how I never thought of all these things years ago.

I just looked at the sanitizing boxes that @SilleeMee mentioned.  I thought she was talking about a professional,  very costly item.  I glanced quickly and see that there's UV ones available for $10-40 on Ebay and Amazon.  Plus there's countless items that this could be used for besides makeup.....tweezers, clippers, brushes, eyeglasses, toothbrushes, credit cards, etc.  I'm definitely checking all this out, being the germ phobe that I am.

To me this is the only way to keep makeup more germ free.  Buy less, throw it away far more often.

Thanks @SilleeMee,  I had no idea!  Also this is very good to know when restocking the medicine cabinet.  I'll check out the sanitizing box but probably too costly to make sense for me. In fact, I've never seen or heard about that product, ever.  At my hair salon all I see is the combs and such in that blue water. I'm going tomorrow, now I'm curious about how and where all the brushes are cleaned. Hmmmmm?

Xxxxxxxxxxxx

brushes are sanitized after cleaning them in a salon in a sanitizing unit under the blue lights, or placed into a container with a vial of QAC, Quaternary Ammonium Compounds.

make-up is applied with disposable applicators that are not double dipped into the product.  It's the double dipping that spreads germs and bacteria into the product.

to this day, I do not dip my fingers into any creams or double dip.  I guess I was taught well..plus I saw too many pictures and films of the product under a microscope....yuck!
