I had a sebaceous cyst removed on the back of my neck. I remember that the derm said that most important thing was to remove the ENTIRE sac or the cyst will grow back. Fortunately, she must have done a good job because it never returned.

Years back, I used to suffer with them, from time to time, hormones major trigger fro me, They were a horror, I kept it covered with a bandaid,as it was so Gross! I tried everything the first time I had one, all the usual advise, etc...Then I finally after having this go on for over a week, went to my Dermatolgist, He gave me an injection right in the area, YES, it stung, but, it was almost all gone in 24 hrs...and healed in two days, NO SCAR!!!! After that experience, needless to say, as soon as one would develop, I would not wait and baby it, went right to Doctor..I only had this problems, maybe three times...but, I remember them well!

It could lead to infection (infection could spread) and more scaring. A dermatologist will advise you on what to use for a good skin care regime for your face. A clean wash cloth with warm water held gently on the area may help with the discomfort. You could make a solution of warm water and Epsom salts to dip your wash cloth in also, which may help draw out the infection.
A doctor once told a teen in the family not to squeeze anything on the face especially if near the temples or the eyes. She had one hear her temple. He said it is too near the brain and it could cause serious problems.
My Dermatologist referred me to a surgeon because it was too deeply embedded for her to remove it. And yes, Derms are indeed, MD's....

a dermatologist is an M.D.
Speaking for CaChica...I believe she was trying to say....Go to a SPECIALIST, not a general practitioner. Of course, everyone knows a dermatologist is a MD. SMH.

Have any one of you sweet ladies had one on your scalp? Fortunately hair cover them (have2) but I can feel them when I rub my scalp TIA.
Engineer I had one removed from my scalp about 10 years ago. It was pretty large and my hair did cover it mostly. But I finally did go to a derm and he removed it. It healed nicely and all is well. I do have a scar but it isn't really noticable on the crown of my head.

I only had one and good skin. That was at 65/66 yrs.

My hair grew back in those areas as well.On 2/15/2014 engineer said:On 2/15/2014 qualitygal said:Mine had to be cut out in surgery last year. I too used Mederma.

A sincere thank you. Will consult derm. Family dr. tried to drain it but very little matter came out. I appreciate your kind advice.
