@SilleeMee I’m sure that the Soaps can afford the highest quality wigs and do so. I was considering buying a very high quality head “topper” hairpiece.

I AM using, and will continue to use, the Hairmax comb you recommended.  But, regardless, I m realistic about the extent of progress achievable being that I have very fine hair.

I think a high quality, human hair, topper would be great.

Do you have any personal experience? Or opinion?

@MsCatLuver

I agree with being realistic about what to expect from a hair laser. That can only do so much. After all these years of using a hair laser, my hair is still on the thin side. But at least I feel confident enough to not use a fill-in powder any more...yay!

I don't have any experience with toppers. But I did order Ken Paves volumizer set...it's a real hair topper with some extra pieces. I haven't received it yet. I've been reading the reviews for this and there seems to be an issue with color. Several of the reviews say their pieces don't match what is shown on the website. Some are sending them back. I hope mine is okay. I'm really looking forward to getting it.

Re: Hairpieces on Soap Operas worn by women actors

I know the actress who plays Maggie has a degenerative disease called Myasthenia Gravis.  Last I hear she is in remission.  She did lose some hir with that disease and I don't know if she got it back when she went in remission.  My aunt died from that disease.  It's similar to Lou Gehrig's disease.

I know her style is outdated, but I really love her mass of beautiful red hair whether it's all hers or not.  Days is the only Soap I watch so I can't comment about actors on the other ones.

I don't know how much money the Soap have to spend these days.  They are in trouble, but they do spend a lot on wardrobes.  Days actually let all of their actors out of their contracts recently.  I don't know that there was a reason given, but they did re-start filming. Not sure how they handled getting actors back and if all the actors came back.  If they released them from their contracts they would've had to renegotiate contracts.  That info might be in one of the groups out there, but I stay away from any that allow spoilers like the running thread on here.

Re: Hairpieces on Soap Operas worn by women actors

I remember an interiew with Joan Collins where she said she always wore a wig on Dynasty because her natural hair is so fine and having her hair blow dried and styled all the time would ruin it. She would tell the younger actresses on the set to use wigs but they wouldn't listen to her. I think she was talking about Heather Locklear.

The actress who played Frankie on the show The Middle wore wigs. She said it saved her alot of time and she didn't want to get her hair done every day. I could tell it was a wig, she is a petite lady and the wig looked too full for her head if that makes sense.

I would think many of the older soap opera actresses who have been around for years probably wear wigs.

This pic of Lani looks like a wig to me.  However, if it is, she apparently wears it all the time since I can't find many pictures that don't look like this.  There are a couple with her hair pulled back in lots of tiny braids.  I think if she let it be more curly it might not look like a wig.  I don't think Kate's is a wig, maybe some extensions.  I think John used to wear a hairpiece or dye his hair.  It was so different after he came back after  long absence, much shorter and grey.

@Icegoddess ~ IMO, you can tell this is a wig from a mile away!

i think monica quartermaine, has had the same wig, for years. it's time for an update! i do think many wear extensions, just like celebrities, do. (many on the housewives of ..... shows do) i think they look dated and some not age appropriate (too young) for them.

i can understand the abuse your hair would take, day in and day out, so a good wig, would be a blessing, for many.

ps. some on judge judy wear wigs to disguise themselves. hallmark actress have some terrible wigs, too.

Extensions are definitely apparent on soaps. I don't know about wigs, though.

I do know for a fact that the two female Hot Bench judges, DiMango and Acker both wear wigs because they've both said that they do, and each has a wardrobe of wigs. Judge Acker, in fact, said she has so many, she has a name for each one lol.

When watching the TSV wig presentation, I suddenly wondered if the beautiful hairdo Julie (Susan Hayes) has on Days of Our Lives might be a wig. It just never occurred to me until now. She looks and dresses so nice on the show.

@AuntG it really has to be kinda obvious to me to even notice.  I'm not particularly good at picking out hairpieces or extensions even if I know people wear them (unless they're poorly done).

@Icegoddess. Speaking of obvious,  I watch old Perry Mason shows on METV. Every actress looks like she's wearing a cheap wig. Of course, they never expected us to be viewing on 65 inch HD sets.

I definitely believe some or the women on DOOL wear wigs and hairpieces.
