Thanks to everyone who replied to my question about repeating my hair color so soon. I figured it would be fine but wanted some feedback. However, it's sold out everywhere. Makes me wonder if it's being discontinued. I could get it from independent sellers on Amazon but the deliveries were too late.
I knew if I called CS they would go strictly by what the box says.
@ALRATIBA I DO have (unless I threw it away) a tube of the John Freida Midnight shampoo. I'll give that a try.
Guess it's time to start looking for a different brand. Sorry @Shanus, I'm not ready for the gray train lol but, I can see that it is about to get harder to keep myself a brunette.
Car is still in the shop (sigh). I'd hoped it would be ready by this weekend for a soiree we'll be attending but it's not looking good. Parts are hard to come by for a current year model car. He's waiting on some nuts and bolts to put other parts on. They can't use any nut and bolt. Has to come from Ford/Linclon.

Thanks @Carmie. I was fairly sure I could but I can't find the color locally and to get it from Amazon, it would have been too late.

ChatGPT...I've got to explore this. I can't believe I haven't done so already. I think the first thing I read about it wasn't positive so I dismissed it. May need to revisit the AI chatbot.

This is what I did for my hair color situation and it's much better. I didn't have the John Frieda midnight brunette shampoo, just the regular brunette shampoo. But I did have the midnight brunette in the conditioner. I used the shampoo with very warm water and got some of the color out. Then I used quite a bit of the midnight brunette conditioner and left it on for 3 minutes. A lot of the red came out and I'm happy with the color. Thank you to the person who suggested I try the John Frieda brunette products 😊

box colors although easier, are sometimes harder to correct. You can call the number on side of box, IDK ABOUT L'Oréal, but clairol has an 800 to talk to colorist they not only give fabulous tips, but can answer any question about color!! . I was surprised. When my color years ago was discontinued I bought up scads of boxes,( some sat in dark cabinet for long time) always store color in dark, temp stable cabinet. . I was worried about effectiveness. I was told all products are great for at least 2 years after expiration . and yes, there is an expiration. It's a funny # they can de code for you. Also, she said really old color didn't harm hair, but looses effectiveness. I used to use the color and replace peroxide with new peroxide ounce for ounce once box was over 2 years.
Worked. Also, their colors work with crème developers usually.
once all my discontinued stash was used, I went back to my stylist, and she matched color I liked. I just hated going because she is over an hour away, that's a couple hours travel. I now use a semi color, with low volume peroxide, and it works better with my white roots! I do a crazy, bright burgundy red that is a special color. I am 77, and too much pain to do it myself. Pretty soon it will be too much to travel. Yikes. Then what? The inevitable I guess, oh well!
@shoekitty - Have you asked friends or family to recommend someone in town? Start asking around. Hopefully you'll find one in the near future. ![]()

@San Antonio Gal Hi Gal! Not sure exactly what you are asking. If you are asking about stylists around town or if I found a color? Yes, I went back to my old stylist and salon. She created a color of red for me. I actually have known her since 1986, since she was out of school. But from about 2005 to 2018 I did my own. Hate the trip to the Big City, lol. 2 hour trip. If you are asking if there is anyone in town....There is no one in this town that could do hair for me. Tried, and ohhh my goodness. It's like "Rat and Roll"salons! Smaller town. In the 70's I taught Trichology and color theory, and had my fill of students experimenting on me, I get PTSD going into any salon. lol. In horrible. You have to handcuff me to chair to go into most salons lol. But I trust this stylist, she was one of my students and she apprenticed for 3 years under a great stylist. IDK what I'll do if she leaves. But I am 16 years older, so I don't have to worry. Lol
