Re: Hair Highlights Question

There are actually a lot of things you can do other than highlights, depending on what the salon has to offer.

For me, I have redness in my skin, so my color is dark brown with gold in it. I get my roots done every 5 weeks and she also mixes a 1/2 shade lighter for my ends.  So instead of pulling the root color through to the ends, she uses the lighter color on the ends and it gives it dimension and looks like highlights.

If I were to get highlights, they would be cut out every other hair cut because my hair is short.

Re: Hair Highlights Question

I would also suggest something non-permanent if you want to try and see how red works in your hair.  This way it washes out if you don't like it.

Re: Hair Highlights Question

A woman I work with has the most lovely copper red highlights.  She uses WEN and she has no fading.  She says before WEN she had given up on red hair color!!

Re: Hair Highlights Question

I have red/gold highlights in my med brown hair.  Mine are done by comb through done by a colorist, so they are very fine\ narrowand look very natural.  I love them 😍

They only need to be re-done @ every 4 months.

I use WEN and have NO problem with them fading.

Re: Hair Highlights Question

Good luck with red! I went through my "red" phase a few years ago and the color just didn't last! Not at all like blonde highlights do. The red in my highlights were vibrant and beautiful when I got home from the salon and a week or so later it dulled and looks bad. Been there, done that, I'm back to my blonde highlights that last forever!  Woman Happy
