I have short, short silvery white hair. I use clarifying shampoo alternated with a purple shampoo, but my hair needs more shine. I've read about using semi-permanent clear hair glazes or glosses to enhance the shine of silver, white and gray hair. Is there a difference between a gloss and a glaze?

the purple shampoos are drying I tried a few before finding one that worked for me, and that was Jhirmack !

if the hair is dry it wont be shiny

Not sure if there’s a difference but I buy clear glosses from online beauty sites or Amazon. I like the ones by Wella and Redken. They are specifically for shine and I always use after I color and sometimes in-between

@Quinny   I had a glaze/gloss applied soon after I went all silver and it turned yellow in the sun. My stylist removed it w/ a salon sulfate shampoo.

The best thing, to me, is deep conditioning and using a hair oil to add shine.

@Shanus Thank you for sharing your experience with me and saving me from a potential disaster.

What is your favorite deep conditioner and hair oil? I've tried 3 different hair oils, all okay, but nothing stood out as a must-have.

@Quinny I don't have silver hair but I do color and highlight my hair and I love JVN Intense Hydration Mask and the Nourishing Shine Drops   The mask is new and is part of the line's revitalized Nuture products.  I also use the Nuture Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner.  I know @Shanus uses this line as well but I am not sure if she uses these specific products.

@Quinny   @ninjawife   Hello. I surprizingly have used the Shea Moisture deep conditioners in a tub (drugstore). I've used it twice a week for years. My curls need hydration and this does the trick not at a fancy price.

I use Curlsmith Oil or argan oil (not Josie) or jojoba oil. I get them at Wholefoods or Trader Joe...orgfanic oils with no additives. I've also found them on Amazon.

Yes, all my other hair products are JVN...shampoos, conditioners and stylers. They did just come out w/ a deep conditioner, but haven't purchased it because it's so expensive compared to my drugstore alternative.

@Shanus Have you used the reformulated Nuture Shampoo and Conditioner?  It smells different from the original but my hair is softer and more manageable with the new formulation.

I am also liking Bumble and Bumble's Seaweed Shampoo and Conditioner.  I used these years ago but stopped when I stopped using sulfates and silicones.  But there are new formulations of these that do not contain sulfates and silicones.  I used them at the beach all summer when I was washing my hair more frequently and I really liked the result.  The line also makes an air dry cream which I may try next summer especially if I wash after the beach, I can let my wavy hair air dry.

@ninjawife   Yes, I purchased the newer JVN line and find it more moisturizing. Sometimes I use that shampoo but finish w/ their volumizing conditoner to add more body. Tried Bumble years ago, but didn't have enough hydration. My salon has Bumble Bumble.
