I have light to medium ash brown hair. Every time I consider getting highlights, the stylists always wants to "warm it up". I know I look better with cools tones, but does anyone know what the obsession is with warming hair up? To me, it looks more natural to stay in the same color range. On Saturday, I spent $172.00 to have my hair trimmed and highlighted on the top (not whole head). I was surprised at the cost since I didn't think it would be 3 times the amount as listed on their pricing guide for less than 20 foils, but to be totally honest, I didn't want to seem cheap. Although I liked my hair in the salon, when I got home, all I could see was brassy gold and red. I thought maybe once I washed it, I would like it better. No. Then I thought maybe it's just the lighting in my house and I would see how it looked at the office. In one room, the awful brassy gold was prevalent and in another it was a reddish gold. I called the salon to say I was not happy, and they will have the stylist call me tomorrow. Does anyone have advice or experience in what I should ask for? Should I risk damage by having the highlights redone? If they just put a toner on it, should I ask for some money back? Any advice is appreciated. I will add I love how my stylist cuts my hair and she is supposed to be Redken trained in coloring.
