HSN auto ship strikes again!

I've had a few Lancôme auto ship be canceled by them due to no more stock available after the first shipment 😡

I feel like this is a major bait & switch!! I order on auto ship because I want to lock in the TS price, even if I don't quite need the item just yet because I'm pretty stocked up. So they get me to order and by the next shipment I can't return so they have my money!!
I will never order their auto ship again.  Very deceptive if you ask me.  Anyone else have this happen ?

Re: HSN auto ship strikes again!

It's not really HSN's fault if it's a supply issue where Lancome can't deliver.   I wouldn't say never again and cut off my nose to spite my face.

My problem with HSN and auto ships is that they sometimes revert back to orignal pricing after the first shipment when I've purchased on a sale or TSV.  I've had to get after them a few times to make the correction on future pricing,  I have many A/S plans with HSN that work very smoothly.

I guess I don't understand....why can't you return something and if they didn't ship it, what have you got to return?

Google the definition of "bail and switch".  This isn't it.

I ordered and paid for the first shipment but when it was time for the second shipment I got an email saying my auto ship has been cancelled🤷🏻‍♀️

This would be my definition of a bait and switch since I wouldn't have purchased at the time since I wasn't low on my stock and could have waited a few more months to order more. If they didn't have the product to honor the auto ship orders they shouldn't have offered it on this plan. Should have just sold it as a one time shipment.

Re: HSN auto ship strikes again!

I'm assuming you ordered the AS because it was a good price?  If so, you got the first order at the good price, and an unopened beauty item should last quite a long time, so I don't see the problem with the item you received.

Your definition isn't accurate.  It's not bait and switch if they're unable supply something. Bait and switch is advertising one thing to get you interested and then the seller talks you into buying a different product. That's not what happened here. You haven't been harmed or cheated.  At least you secured one shipment at a price you were happy with so consider it a single shipment as you stated.  Since you also have a good inventory and don't really need another shipment anyway, use what you have for now and watch for another sale. 🤷‍♀️

Re: HSN auto ship strikes again!

It is no fun when this happens, I get it. I'd be angry about it, too.

Bait and switch is when a seller is using bait to lure you in, but when you make the purchase, you are tricked, unknowingly at the moment, tricked into buying something different than what was originally shown to you.

Here's another used incorrectly... Buyer's remorse, which is about feeling regret or guilt after you bought something. It is not what some say that it means that you took too long to make a purchasing decision and now the item is not available.

Ok thanks for putting up with me...slowly stepping off of my soapbox.......

Re: HSN auto ship strikes again!

You girls are correct in the absolute definition of bait & switch. Guess I just felt swindled somewhat since this is like the 3rd time this is happened to me with a Lancôme TS auto ship. They shouldn't offer it at a crazy good price if they cannot sustain the program to continue at the TS price point. It's just not good business practice is all... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Re: HSN auto ship strikes again!

The same happened to me today. I was rather amused at the abrupt tone of the email. It was basically "no Lancome for you!". LOL.

I didn't take it as a supply chain issue. I wondered if perhaps Lancome is moving to QVC? In the long run no biggie I guess. Plenty of serum from other brands to go around.

Re: HSN auto ship strikes again!

@cactusjack   Bait and switch is a legal term.

You can't choose to change legal terms to make them mean whatever you wish they meant.  You offer no proof either HSN or Lancome knew when they made the offer that they couldn't get the product again.  You need that to charge bait and switch.

It won't help you for this issue, but I think your only recourse for the future is to work to get the law changed.
