Back lots of years ago - the person working in the shop where I bought my makeup - made some suggesions re color choices, types, etc.
I followed her advice ... the rest is history.
I don't have any particular issues so my products are really basic. My skin tends to be oily - so I don't need any special face lotions

@Shanus This isn't the first time you've targeted those of us who have excessive products with your judgment. Frankly, it's none of your business. Funny, you don't like it when your past indiscretions are brought up, and are quick to clap back and notify the mods when they are, but you don't seem to have a problem judging others on their perceived flaw of buying excess products. I probably have more things in my skincare routine than I truly need, and I try lots of foundations and blushes, but my skincare routine is my self care. I enjoy my multiple step routines. I know, in skincare, there are specific things that are scientifically proven to provide results and some may just be feel good products. But who cares? Aside from my Estée Lauder foundation, I don't buy expensive makeup unless I have a good discount code or special pricing opportunity. The same goes for skincare. Our home is paid for, my DH is employed, our bills are paid on time, we don't smoke, drink, or gamble. So if I want to play a little more in the skincare field or try a few inexpensive serums, foundations, or blushes, it's no big deal.

@Trinity11 You seem to have a love/hate relationship with my threads and posts.
Many women I see ARE hung up on miracle creams they think will either turn back the clock or keep it from moving forward. I've always said here it's personal choice.
I have a reasonalble, easy skincare routine "for my age".
When people saw themselves on ZOOM during Covid, some wanted peels, nose jobs, eye lid surgery, faceliifts, Botox and fillers. Surgeons and derm offices started booming and haven't slowed down. You can read these articles about this phenomenon in many media forms and my professional journals
Education is great to fall back on, but the younger generation also knows the "fight" that appearance DOES get the better job...sometimes...like it or not. We ARE in a youth based society.

@JeanLouiseFinch This thread was only meant to begin a discussion about the makeup and skincare we have in our routines.
Calm down. I'm not pointing a finger at you. It's always personal choice.

I used to like trying skinncare and would go through phases and never used up anything. Using biossance now and I must really like it because I am actually using it all up and re purchasing. As far as makeup I have switched to seint. I love having everything in one compact and no clutter or extra makeup laying around.

I read your threads about being addicted to botox and your "other" threads related to beauty before you "became" a makeup artist on the QVC bulletin board. Persiflage has summarized all of it as I, too, experienced it in real time. Enough said @Shanus.
Thus my disillusionment.🥺😳🥺

I try to use stuff up before it can go bad. Unless it is something horrible and I just can't stand it. Then I just toss it.
My Holy Grails are few. . I like to change things up and try new things. I may buy into a company heavily for their products but as I use stuff up I am ready to move on to something new.
A few things I won't change, Tretinion, Josie's Argon Oil, scrubs, and body butters. I use other body creams and lotions but I use hers the majority of the time. Tan Luxe is my go to self-tanner. I have the best results with it.

I know you're not talking about me, but I thought I'd chime in anyway. I don't throw makeup away "at the end of the year". I don't toss it till it looks bad, smells bad and doesn't perform well. Makeup lasts YEARS longer than the use by icon indicates. My core makeup products are lashes, foundation/tint, blush, bronzer, e/s, liner, lipgloss, perfume, highlighter.

@Shanus I love skincare and makeup and spend a fair amount on both.
I do believe that if one has good skin, they can wear just about any kind of makeup...I love high end and drugstore.
