This is concerning the use of it with the Currentbody mask but I started a new thread in case someone is interested in the benefits of green tea but not following the RLT thread.
So ok, I missed several of the RLT messages and hopefully someone will fill me in on the green tea idea. I know green tea is in a lot of skincare products but why are we doing this when the company says to use it on clean untreated skin?

Are you saying that the RLT company is saying to use the mask (or whatever) on clean, untreated skin?
I just was casually following the thread, so I'm not sure why they were using green tea.
I know why I favor green tea! (But I'm not doing the RLT.)

Green Tea Extract specifically has been shown to enhance the effect of the RLT.

Green tea is supposed to enhance the results of the RLT. Your statemeant isn't quite accurate, @monicakm. They allow for a face cream and eye cream, I believe. Additionally, CurrentBody has not said it's a must to use the RLT mask on clean, untreated skin. They say you can use their Hydrogel Mask in conjunction with the RLT mask, but it's not required. Interestingly, the ingredients in the hydrogel mask include Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (aka. green tea)

The idea of using GTE (green tea extract) with RLT came from one single study done back in 2009. That study showed faster RLT results when green -tea-filled cotton pads were applied to the skin. The antioxidants found in green tea enhanced the action of RLT.
Antioxidants promote healing and new growth of cells by neutralizing free radicals found in the body. Free radicals are substances formed in the body when cells die or get injured from things like sun, pollution and some of the things we consume for instance bad food and drugs. When free radicals are present they inhibit growth, healing and a general state of good health. When the free radicals are neutralized by antioxidants such as GTE, vitamin C and others, the body can be free to flourish with more younger and vital cells which are the most vulnerable to free radical attacks. You end up with younger tissue including younger-looking skin.
If you are interested in that 2009 study...

Yes, the CB company says to use it on clean skin. The only product I've read of them saying you can use is an eye cream.
So why do YOU favor green tea. I haven't researched it yet but here is a COSRX green tea and I like this company.

Eyecream, yes, but I've not seen anything in the manual about a face cream. And if they are saying that their face cream can be used, it's probably to sell their face cream. I think I'll order some green tea. And just when I was patting myself on the back for having NO incoming orders from Sephora or Amazon and nothing in my baskets ![]()

Some RLT treatments can cause some oxidative stress meaning it can cause the formation of free radicals. Using GTE, which is an antioxidant, will supposedly and theoretically neutralize those free radicals formed from RLT treatments.

Thank you. I love science
I read the highlights of that article earlier today. Can you give us some key ingredients in a green tea formula to look for? I'm seeing aloe along with green tea. And here is one from Innisfree.
There are SO many on Amazon. This one is an Amazon Choice (if that counts for anything).
