Gray roots..

I am a dark blonde, with some gray roots which I get done every 6 weeks. I tried a new place yesterday and the girl was real young and fast. It looked nice when I left, but when I looked at home, I could still see some gray roots in places about an inch showing. Is that normal for them to miss areas? I do not recall this with my other hair dresser. I feel like I will have to go sooner then usual next time. Back to the more expensive place I guess.
