Personally, hate pixies, I blame my mother, so you have my sympathies. The good news, is it will grow!

On 11/8/2014 happy housewife said:My hair has been in a shorter or longer pixie for many years now. My hair is very fine and perfectly straight. The entire secret to wearing a pixie is finding a stylist who doesn't make it look like a man's haircut. I wash mine daily then blow it dry with a dryer that has a 1 1/2" brush so my hair does pick up some shape as it dries. Then a tiny bit of mousse (i don't like styling mud type things) and I can pull it into place with the sides forward and the top parted to the side and finger combed. With modern styles and a short cut you have to let go of the idea of using a comb. Fingers do a much better job of showing off the various layers and the piecey uneven finish.
My layers are about 3"long on top, but my bangs are longer - just above my brows.
I thought all those accessories would be cute on a young woman but not for someone who is mature.
I have no idea the age of the OP. I also don't know your definition of "mature." I think someone in their 40's and even older can pull off the right hair accessory. I know a very stylish woman in her 70's who wears cute hair pins and even head bands. She looks great.

I got a pixie earlier this year, after decades of the same old bob. I loved it at first. Then I moved to a different state and needed a new hairdresser. I got a trim - twice - and the guy did a great job both times. But then the next time I went to the same place, I got a woman and I don't know what she did, but I hated it. She left it long in places it needed to be short, and cut it too short where I wanted length. I won't be going back to that stylist again. She made me want to go back to my bob

Sorry you are unhappy with your new 'do.
But have some faith that people are being honest when they tell you how cute it looks. They really have no reason to lie to you...
O/T - did anyone see Faith Hill's new pixie at the CMA Awards. She's a beautiful woman (regardless of her hair), but she's also one of those women with the perfect bone structure to pull off short hair flawlessly.

I cut mine short and everyone liked it, but I felt it made my face look rounder/bigger. I'm letting it grow out for winter, so I'll see what spring/summer brings.

I love getting different haircuts. I'm really never unhappy with any. I'm always up for a change and wear my hair different always. Why not just embrace your new short cut? Whats your other option? I've been wearing my hair longer in an inverted bob lately but lately I'm so tempted to go back to my comfort range of my super short spiky pixie style!

Pixie Cut Story- My Mom took me to her friends house who cut hair. I said A%$#& I do not want a short haircut ( I was 6 at the time ) Well, you know what happened, I was given a "PIXIE". To this day, the word sends shivers up and down my spine. I vowed that when I had a daughter, I would NEVER do that to her- and I didn't. She has beautiful full, past the shoulders hair!
