Maybe because I have spent my whole life with oily skin trying to keep it matte, I just hate this look. I don't like cakey face look either. I know nothing makes my wrinkles and texture look worse than dewy glowy etc. I think a little highlighter here and there looks good. When I was young I wore makeup to hide stuff and now it emphazes what I want to hide. I am thinking the lights on TV make it look worse than it is because I just want to reach through the TV with blotting papers.

I hate it. I think it accentuates every line and pore, even lines and pores you didn't know you have. On young flawless skin it can look OK but on skin with even the slightest amount of texture -- and let's face it texture comes with age -- it's not flattering.

For the most part, many look greasy, rather than "dewy", IMHO.

I don't like it.
I also grew up with oily skin and it's something that I've tried to keep in check over the years. Now at my age my skin is no longer oily but I do have large pores...why would I want to emphasize that?

No, I don't like. I've spent too many years trying to keep my greasy complexion looking matte. I prefer a matte (non-greasy) look on everybody.

I don't like oily, so I do expend some effort to avoid it. But a bit of oil is much, much better on me than powder which adds a decade at least.

For me 'glow' or 'dewy' means your skin looks slightly wet but ONLY on the high points on your face. To get this look you need to mattify, or lightly mattify, your face first then apply your highlighters. Contrary to popular bloggers, do not put highlighters on your t-zone. This will make you appear greasy or oily. When makeup is applied properly, glowing, dewy skin looks beautifully healthy.

@SilleeMee I so agree with you. You can't start with a "glowing" or iridescent primer/foundation and achieve the desired look. You just look greasy and a need to be powdered down.
I'd rather begin w/ a matte look and just highlight cheekbones & that's it. We have to remember that most YouTube videos are not geared to the over 40 crowd..take them w/ a grain of salt and adjust for our age to be appropriate.
