I use original blue Dawn.   Got this trick a few years ago from someone on the forums.

Prell shampoo (there's only one formula and it's the same original one form years ago) works at clarifying the hair and scalp wonderfully, too. I use it on occasion but not that often. One of my hairdressers recommended it as a color-stripping product to remove hair dye from a bad color job.

@brandiwine Thanks for mentioning a shampoo bar.  I've been trying out various ones and the web site for Goat Milk Stuff looks interesting.

If you are trying to remove product build up from your hair you need a clarifying shampoo and NOT what you describe.  You will damage your hair if you do what you said.

This is interesing @luvzchiz .  It does make sense.  How often do you use Dawn?

Re: Getting rid of build up on scalp

@San Antonio Gal   Thanks for asking.  My hair is waist length, and I wash it ever other day unless it's needed more often. I use the Dawn about every third wash.  I follow it up with a conditioner but only from my neck down.

My hair is dyed. Dawn does not strip the color.  If you are going to try it, be sure to use the original blue.  This is the one that is used on wildlife.

@Dusty1   It's on my scalp and I really don't know what is causing the itching.  I don't have dandruff so all I can say is dry scalp.

I love Kenra deep detox scrub, I found it back in the Spring at Marshalls. Tried to buy more there or TJ Maxx but I never found it again there. It's available online, it's in a black tube.

@Katcat1 Um. That sounds uncomfortable. I don't think that is buildup.

Could it be dermatitis or psoriasis?
