Gallon Decanting for Dummies

My gallon of fig is on its way!! I'm so excited lol I still cannot believe that I spent that amount of money on one item, but i'm addicted.... Anyways, I've noticed that alot of you decant from your gallons into smaller bottles, and I was curious whether or not the pumps on the big daddies are reclosable or I would have to remove the pump and put the priginal cap back on? I ask because I have 4 cats that like to get into EVERYTHING (worse than toddlers) and I have no closet space in which to store it {#emotions_dlg.blink} TIA ladies
