Found Dupe for SK II Facial Treatment Essence!!!!

Missha First Treatment Essence! The SK II essence is the best selling product in their line and costs well over $100. It is a yeast based skin softener that is applied like a toner after cleansing and before treatments. I searched the web and found that Missha (love their BB creams) also has a very similar yeast based lotion which you can find on Amazon for around $32. Asian women originally used this product swear by it for keeping skin clear and toned. It was originally found in the factories where women made sake and although they got older their hands always stayed soft and youthful. Always wanted to give it a try but the SK II was too costly. Just a heads up for you fellow skincare junkies!

Does anyone here use either of these products and what do you think of them?

Love SK-II products, but had to stop using-very expensive but great products. So good to know there is a dupe for Facial Essence as this was my absolute favorite from their line......Thanks for posting!!!!

JM I was glad to find this dupe too. I think Missha is a good line so I'm willing to trust their essence is quite similar to SKII. The main ingredient is "pitera" (I think) which is the yeast that comes from sake, guessing this might be the argan oil of Asia!!!!

Re: Found Dupe for SK II Facial Treatment Essence!!!!

Thanks for the tip! I have always wanted to try SKII but found it to be really expensive, so no go.

I have always read a lot of great things about Missha and its line, so I may have to give it a try!

Re: Found Dupe for SK II Facial Treatment Essence!!!!

How do you like to apply it? In the picture on the Missha site, it looks like a cotton pad is being used, but then in the instructions it says to use the palm of your hand?

Also, initially in reading the ingredients, I was alerted to PROPANEDIOL being second on the list. Propanediol is another name for Propylene Glycol. I've read several place on the internet where it doesn't sound like it's something we'd want on our skin, but then today I found another article that essentially dispels that. Anyone know for sure?

I just ordered it so I guess I'll try applying it both ways and see what works once it arrives. Thanks for the tip about the other ingredients. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they are okay!

Re: Found Dupe for SK II Facial Treatment Essence!!!!

I found the Missha essence about a year ago and tried it. While it didn't irritate my skin, so had zero results from it. Absolutely no change in my skin, so did not repurchase. I haven't tried SKII, so can't compare.

Re: Found Dupe for SK II Facial Treatment Essence!!!!

I usually used mine in the pal of my hand, as to not waste one drop-since it was so expensive!!!!!You only need a little bit too which is nice. Thanks Virgosun for posting the dupe. I have heard good things about Missha so I think I will try it as well!!!!!!{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Re: Found Dupe for SK II Facial Treatment Essence!!!!

JM Since they both have a high percentage of the main pitera ingredient than that is good enough for me to give it a try too. I know SKII charges a lot because they are known as a real prestige brand with elaborate packaging etc and have Cate Blanchette as their spokeswoman. So maybe Missha saves on those features and can still offer the same/similar strength ingredients. I'm always willing to give something a try at least once!
