Not sure if you use any oils but some people experience dry skin after using certain kinds of oils. The reason is because the oil causes the skin to 'think' it has enough oil so the oil glands shut down resulting in dry skin over time.

On and off I use squalane oil.  I use the squalane oil as my "slip" when using my gua sha under my eyes but I only use it on the rest of the face if I feel I need it or when it gets cold and dry.

Re: Forehead Lines

[ Edited ]

As we age, there will be changes in our faces and our bodies. Every place there's movement on the face...smiling, moving your neck ...eventually there will be lines.

That's what life brings unless you're a celebrity or quite wealthy with sugeons, Botox, fillers and access to famous facialists who do procedures that make 70-80 year old women (and men) frozen in time. Look at Jane Fonda at 80!!!

Social media has made it difficult to accept aging. There's no way to walk around with perfect lighting and filters. I certainly wouldn't want to wear as much makeup and contouring to achieve any look that makes me 20 yrs. younger (not possible anyway).

Any lines, wrinkles, redness, texture, sagging is a sign of a life well-lived.

@Shanus

I respect you and like you even though we had rocky start.

But I have to disagree with this statement...

I've seen plenty of people with the above features you mentioned. They don't look like they had a life well lived 😳. My husband has a friend that has lines wrinkles redness texture  and sagging skin.  He is pathetic and homeless. It's his own doing. Well he was homeless until my dear brother passed away and left him his trailer. Now he's still pathetic with lines wrinkles redness and sagging skin but at least he has a roof over his head, for now.

I still don't want signs of aging. I know I'll get them but I don't have to like it 🙂.

@monicakm   No, I don't think any of us jump for joy when the lines and wrinkles appear. My point is smiling can make crow's feet, but I'd rather smile than cry.

Good skincare, exercise, hydration and agood diet are essential. Other than that, acceptance.

There is such a thing as skincare overload. I see it all the time. Too many products can be applied without enough time to see if each or which one is working before moving on  to another shiny thing with promises that may not be better than what you're using.

With all due respect, your routine that you talk about here, seems way too involved and new products purchased and new creams, acids, etc. added on a regular basis.

Wayne Goss has a recent video on why your skincare is not working.

@monicakm   I'm sure you'll agree that he's a definite exception and not the kind of aging we're discussing here.

An appointment with a board certified dermatologist for guidance on the best products to use, is far better than taking advice from strangers on a shopping channel forum.

Yes. And especially when one of those strangers posted only a few years ago they were addicted to botox.😳

@Shanus, I am always thankful for your helpful advice and appreciate your time and patience.

I guess I would trust that most asking for your advice are conscious of using sun block on their faces every day, including when they are inside.

I also would expect most are concerned about a sound diet and taking supplements as needed.  Frankly, many might not give that the emphasis it needs.  Sleep and exercise are also important.

My skin is very fair, and I have never tanned in my life.  I do try to take care of myself as best I can.  But accepting we are not going to look young forever is essential to happiness.  I turned 78 this summer, have some physical issues I take care of, and still care how I look.  I do take care of my skin, and I mostly use Perricone products, don’t have many wrinkles,  but of course, skin sagging.  Hey, that’s me!

The nicest compliment I think I received was a few years back, at a gathering of people I didn’t know,  One man came up to me, excused himself,  and said he had to tell me I had “such a kind looking face.”  I think it was Lincoln who said that after 40, you had the face you deserved.

Just food for thought.
