For the First Time in Years, Someone Said I Smell Good

What was I wearing? It wasn't a perfume but, of course, there was a scent.

It was Bath & Body Works' "French Lavender & Honey Triple Moisture Body Cream."

Here is what happened: There is a youngish man in my office who actually belongs to another group but still maintains a cubicle within our suite. He and his wife (who also was once in my office) are darlings whom I love. So, when I see him, I kiddingly get my hug from him. For the first time the other day I wore the French Lavender scent, and when I stepped back, he said, "You smell good." Gee, it was so nice to hear that. Really, no one has said that to me since I cannot remember when.

That's sweet. I love lavender! I'm a scent fanatic, scented shower gels and body lotions are part of my daily grooming. I hear the "you smell nice" thing frequently. B&BW products are great because I find if I use a bath product and body butter; I don't need the cologne spray. A light scent will stay with me for most of the day.

That is sweet. You'd better continue using it if he likes it.

rita, I have worn Opium for about three decades. The hard truth is that since leaving my 50s behind, I probably never had a compliment again on that favorite scent other than those times when I wore a particular Bath & Body Works product along with it.

chrystal's post prompted a memory. I recall that I had one compliment last year, and it was from a female friend whom I was kissing hello. Once again, it was a B & B Works product; it was their Honeysuckle Amore Body Cream

And waay before that, perhaps five or so years ago, it was their Cotton Blossom, which they discontinued (changed the ingredients and called it something else -- not a nice smell). That scent, in their Body Butter, almost always got a response from folks -- both male and female. How I loved Cotton Blossom Body Butter!

I really think my Opium does not do much for me anymore, but my late husband loved it on me, and I have sentimentally stuck with it. My honest thought is that whatever my body chemistry is at this stage of my life, perfumes don't work as well on me as body butter or body cream. Something has changed.

Nana, I bought it in May when they were starting their summer push (it was one of the scents), and I do not think I saw any the last time I was in my local shop. Just now finished the last of the 8 tubes of Honeysuckle Amore that I had bought the year before. I was happy to finally start on this French Lavender & Honey. Now that I learned it's a keeper, I'm probably not going to find any more tubes. Darn it!

How nice! I think it's challenging to find a scent that isn't overwhelming to the point where it bothers others in the vicinity. Ever sit in a movie theater, restaurant, library, etc. when there's someone nearby whose perfume is so strong, or overly applied, that it's a big distraction?
