Glad you are finding your happy hair items! I still haven't found mine! I can't stand to use a bunch of products. I don't like the bother and the time. Also, I don't like my hair to feel weighed down with a bunch of stuff!

I don't like it either and it's my intention not to have to use the curling iron and additional products unless my hair is too long on top to hold the style I like. There seems to be a fine line between what works and what looks the best. Yesterday I burned myself three times, once being on my cheek as the stupid iron fell out of my stupid clumsy hands and hit my cheek on the way down 😳

@Icegoddess wrote:You need a heat protectant. Most contain silicones as they are excellent for that purpose, but you will need a shampoo with sulfates to get them out of your hair so you don't get buildup.
There are heat protectants that don't contain silicones. I used to use Briogeo but I recently started using JVN Instant Recovery Serum and I am very pleased with it. JVN also just came out with a Blow Dry Milk that is also a heat protectant which I plan to try when I am done the Instant Recovery Serum as the Milk comes in a pump and the serum comes in a jar.

I was going to buy the milk product but when I was on Amazon found this for a lot less. I've heard a lot of good things about this hair care brand so I decided to try it first.

It's ridiculous, isn't it? I have known ladies who had wonderful hair and I envied them. They were sure blessed, in that their hair was very pliable and smooth and they really didn't have to do much of anything to it and it looked just great! I used to have very thick, shiny hair but it was unruly! Now, it's getting pretty thin but it's still unruly!
I had one curling iron years ago and I don't even remember the brand name. It had some kind of flocking on it and I did the best with it. It finally went bad and I had to throw it out. I have burned myself many times with these things. A couple times I burned myself on my neck and it looked like -- well, you can guess what people thought they were --- very embarrassing!!!
I guess this is why I end up just clipping my hair up most of the time! I just get tired of trying and failing to make my hair look half decent!

I had one of those flocked curling irons back in the day.
I'm hoping I get more proficient at this before I seriously
burn myself.

Yes, I hope so -- be careful and good luck!!
