Finacea or Metro Gel users??

I know I have posted a couple times about rosacea but I guess I'm sort of obsessed!!! I'm using finacea, for about 3 months now but I don't see that it has done much. I have moderate redness. The dermatologist said some people use both this and metro gel. Just wondering if any of you use either or both. I would rather not use any medication unless it is something that REALLY works for me!

Re: Finacea or Metro Gel users??

Neither work for me. However, with rosacea each case is so individual, what works wonders for one person can be a disaster for another. Unfortunately, the only way to tell if something is going to work for you is to try it yourself.

Thanks cassiem, do you mind telling me what works good for you? I am always just curious, looking for options. You are right about everyone being different!

Metrogel and clindamycin work best for me, but my flares have been minimal, but I'm always vigilant.

Re: Finacea or Metro Gel users??

Metro gel didn't help me. Made my skin dry and flaky and still had the redness. I use The Body Shops Aloe am and pm moisturizers and Cliniques cleansing foam as a cleanser. I have no redness now, just peaches n cream completion. Body Shop has a trial kit of the Aloe set so you can try before enought he full size. I also started using Borgheses delicato fango mask. Once a week and Amore Pacific Enzyme Peel once a month. You at want to try the cleanser and moisturizer for a month or so and add one of the other products down the road.

Re: Finacea or Metro Gel users??

Metrogel did not work for me, but Finacea does. I use it religiously twice a day and it really controls the redness, etc. I've been using it for seven or eight years. I do have to be careful what else I use, such as makeup, cleanser, as many products irritate and cause breakouts. Good luck to you.{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Re: Finacea or Metro Gel users??

I have used Finacea two times daily for several years. That seems to help with the rosacea. For breakouts, I use Aczone. You should talk more to your dermatologist about your concerns. There are some oral medications that help. I do not know the name of a relatively new one that has been helpful. Your doctor should know that information.

Re: Finacea or Metro Gel users??

bosmamaa ~ I tried using both Finacea and MetroGel several years ago and neither worked for me. Just trial and error, I've found products that work, and many that don't. Sometimes I get a big flare-up and I don't know what the heck caused it!

I use a prescription called Protopic -- a very thick gel -- when my rosacea is extremely bad. It was one of those trial and error products that worked, and it's not even made for rosacea.

Otherwise, I stick with mild cleansers like the Clinique foaming, Neutrogena in the blue bottle, and Skinn PM. For skin care: Clinique moisturizer gel or Oil of Olay pink, ResQ retinol cream, and Avalon Organics vitamin C serum. Like Cassiem said, we're all different and what works for some won't work for others.

Good luck!
