Fenty Foundation Review

[ Edited ]

With 40 shades of Rihanna's "Fenty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte" foundation I gave them a try.  Usually my frustration is that brands do not have enough shades for African-American skin tones, but with Fenty I almost had too many shades to try to narrow it down. Smiley Happy I'll take that problem any day!  Found my exact match; it looks like I don't have on any foundation, just beautiful skin.  The immediate look is truly photo-finish perfection!  So for shades, coverage, texture, and pore-diffusion, I give it a rating of 5.

However, I have oily skin and this formula does not stay matte for long. I was shiny in a couple of hours, and had to blot several times throughout the day.  I have very oily skin, so that's just me.  So the long-wear aspect is not up to par for me, and my rating is a mere 2 on that factor.

Aside from Fenty I also wear Bare Minerals Pro, which I purchase on Bare Minerals' site, not QVC, because BM carries many more shades than QVC (irritating!).  Even on BM site and the extra shade offerings, I still have to purchase two different shades.  But when I combine them it's fantastic, and the matte lasts a long time (both factors rate 5), longer than Fenty.  I don't like having to purchase two shades though.

It’s such a beautiful foundation but for me, the fragrance was too much for my sensitive skin

I went to Sephora and sampled it. The lightest shade was way off on my skin...too yellow..too beige...not sure but it didn't work. Even if it had, I wouldn't have bought it because OMG, it sucked all the moisture out of my skin! Whoa Nelly, it's definitely NOT for dry skin, lol.

I applaud her and her shade range; proof that's there is no excuse for ALL lines to offer so many. Now, if she could only offer it in a dry skin formula....
