At 54, am I too old to wear false lashes?  I think they look so pretty on the beauty vloggers I watch on youtube, but most of them are at least 20 years younger than me. I don't really have any problems with my natural lashes, but the false lashes really make the eye pop. What do you think?

@MercysMom I'm 61 and I don't think you're too old at all! If I wanted to I'd certainly try them.

We need to stop thinking we're "too old" for this, that and the other. If YOU are happy with what you see in the mirror, that's all that matters!

@MercysMom -

Age has nothing to do with it. If you like the look - go for it!

I don't think age has anything to do with it.  It's just a matter of picking out the right ones and proper application.

Regardless of age, if they are way too long, way too thick and you can see white blobs of glue along your lashline, falsies won't look good.

I agree, any age can wear them if they're chosen carefully and APPLIed very well.

I could never apply them correctly, and my eyes and eyelids are way too sensitive for their weight. No matter how light. Although they can look fantastic.

You might want to have them applied at the salon the first time for good results and education.

I think it's fine if you want to try them.  In my own case, my lashes are still fairly long, but they are so much thinner now.  I used to be able to just dye them black and go without mascara......I could never do that now.  It doesn't matter what else I do to my face in the morning, without mascara I look positively awful!  Just be aware that applying false eyelashes can be a pain, and can eventually lead to the loss of some of your own lashes from the glueing.  I doubt I could see well enough now to apply them anyway!

It's no "piece of cake" applying them, @2blonde. They make it look easy. I'm looking at Pat right now, and I notice hers are not trimmed well and obviously false. They need to be feathered nicely like your own lashes. We're not the only ones who can't apply well nor choose wisely. Smiley Happy

I've heard using smaller clumps of lashes are easier & more realistic than the strip lashes.   Has anyone used the clump method?

I have a new experience ... lash extensions!  I used eyeliner for decades but don't need it with the extensions.  It feels so good to run out the door and feel like I have eye makeup on but in reality, I do not!

Re: False eyelashes

You don't have to have false eyelashes that look like Phyllis Diller.  You can just supplement your current lashes.  I love false lashes. Trust me no one would ever guess I have them.  They have so much dimension to your face.  As I am blond, my fake lashes as well as mascara is always brown not black.  I just look younger and prettier.

I trim false eyelash length with a manicure scissors prior wearing.  I really just want thickness rather than length.
