I was gifted a professional facial and the experience was wonderful. I have been using a facial oil and like it.  The esthetician advised me not to use a facial oil as it can clog my pores.  She said, if I need more moisture to get it from a richer moisturizer. Since I like facial oils, I bought several bottles when they were on sale, and I really don't want to toss them.

I would appreciate your thoughts.  Thank you in advance.

If you enjoy them and they're not causing an issue, why discontinue them?

I would say to use one per application. If you use multiple oils at once and have a reaction, then you have to find the culprit.

Sometimes the ritual you use is more theraputic to the mind, body and soul than the product itself.

@shy bobcat    I use a variety of oils and serums layered on my face every night followed by a face cream.  I've never experienced clogged pores. I'm in my 6Os and face and neck skin look pretty good.

I use squalane oil.  Our bodies make their own squalene oil naturally but it decreases with age.  Squlane oil is a more stable form of squlene and doesn't oxidize when exposed to the air.  Apply your essences first, then actives, then moisturizer and lock it all in with your oil of choice.

Does she realize that to make a richer moisturizer means that more emollient ingredients are added? That's oils and butters. 🤷‍♀️

Clogged pores happen when there isn't thorough cleansing and they become impacted with crud.  I pre cleanse with an oil.  I mix a few drops of a treatment oil with my moisturizer and I do not have clogged pores.

Not all oils clog pores.

HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED MARA SKIN OIL SilleeMee, AND ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!  SOME OILS ARE TOO HEAVY, BUT THIS ONE WORKS GREAT FOR ME!

  • I use Argan oil - not JM - all over my face neck and chest twice a day after cleansing and a vitamin C , HA cream on top at night. No problems. And thankfully, I have no visible pores!.

While I don't feel the need with our high humidity in summer, I still add a drop of Bliss Camellia oil to my moisturizer day & night.  Even though I love using an oil in winter, I have yet to find a good replacement for the SSC Olive Oil oil I used to love.

I just tossed some argan oil, not JM's. Give your oils a good sniff if they have been on hand for awhile.

Took a whiff and omg! 😳
