Re: FAIR IVORY BARE MINERALS

@Shanus....I use fairly light in Bare Minerals - is there a 'trick' to not looking so pale?  I have an issue with my eyes and many days they are bloodshot ....and then my fair complexion just makes me look not well....thanks

Hi @Mom2Dogs. Yes, I have a few tricks. The first one is accept your fair complexion. Our foundation has to match...can’t go darker. If like me, most bronzers look muddy and “stupid” since it’s obvious w/ my coloring I’d never tan naturally. I use a carefully chosen blush that isn’t too bright (NARS Orgasm cream stick or powder or BB Antiqua Illuminating Bronzer....a pink bronzer that fair skins use as blush).

For eyes: eye drops to cut redness and navy liner either inside upper eyelid (on waterline), on lid or both. Mally’s Sailor is waterproof and the one I use. BB makes a gel in a pot in an ink shade, too.

Hope this helps.

Re: FAIR IVORY BARE MINERALS

Thanks @Shanus....I will take your advice except for the eye drops - the irritation of my eyes does not allow me to use drops - oh the burn the drops produce- wish I could.  The redness is not every day but is more often than not.

I have never used a bronzer for the reasons you mentioned....I will look into a navy eye liner - currently I use black but it is not a harsh black, thanks.

@Mom2Dogs  Sorry OTC drops irritate your eyes. Try putting your concealer all the way to the edge of your lower lid which is usually more red or darker. Hope that helps.

Re: FAIR IVORY BARE MINERALS

I have some of these same issues of course, being so pale.  I use an inky navy eyeliner too, and love the two blush choices that @Shanus mentioned, Nars O blush (I have the powder) and Bobbi Brown Antigua.

I think the new color powder in the Bare Minerals TSV kit is similar to the Antigua, gives warmth and color and a touch of shimmer and brightens up fair skin without being clownlike as a blusher can be, or muddy like most all bronzers are on my skin.

@author  If you feel the TSV blush has a bit too much shimmer, you can swipe a bit of MV on top. I like Rose Radiance as a blush, as well.

@Shanus

Thanks for the tip on the blush.  I am still playing with the Radiance and so far do not think it has too much shimmer.  I tried it alone today over foundation and it looked very sheer and pretty, a natural look with a bit of glow.  It's fun playing with a few new beauty items; perks up the old stuff.

ETA:  This a.m. I tried on the foundation in Fair Ivory, looked super pretty at first, not too dark at all and I am very fair.  An hour later I looked in my magnifying mirror and every single line or slight wrinkle seemed drawn on and highlighted by this powder.

So the foundation at my age (72) is now a NO.  I'll use the rest of the kit but never again the foundation; plus it does irritate my eyes a lot when I brush it on.

I’ve worn Fairly Light for decades. I wasn’t Fair, too pink or Light, too yellow. There’s now Fair Ivory...neutral fair, lighter than Fairly Light. Since I’ve gotten older and hair changed to silver, skin is lighter, too.

I’m going to the Bare Escentuals Boutique today to test that shade. All fair skinned beauties who love the original foundation, stand by for review.

*****I don’t think I ever came back w/ my review of the shade result at the Bare Escentuals Boutique. The new Fair Ivory is definitely darker (although the shade number is 02 and my Fairly Light is 03)...I was matched to Fair. The mua explained that when you wear the recommended moisturizer & primer under the powder foundation and in a few hours when any natural oils in your skin (even dry skin) mix w/ the minerals, the shade darkens a bit. So, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve upped my moisturizer and gotten more pale, if possible. That put me into the Fair...”Nicole Kidman’s of the world” category.

Re: FAIR IVORY BARE MINERALS

I have always been "Fair," yes the Nicole Kidmans of the world unite.  The new Fair Ivory is too dark for me, even as a finishing powder.  Don't know why they changed this, why no "Fair" was available in the kit that was the recent TSV.

I got the fair ivory. Now I'm concerned that it will be too dark. Fingers crossed.

It was too dark and turned more orange on me as the day progressed. Smiley Sad
