Re: Eyelash curlers that work!

Definitely Shu Uemura.  I used Maybelline for years then tried the Shu.  It takes less time to curl my lashes, they stay curled and the Shu lasts forever.  I've had mine for many years.  I used to buy a new Maybelline every 6 months as the rubber would come off.

Hi all! I have an issue with finding an eyelash curler that curls my lashes and doesn't break them off. I have tried about everything. I have thin. stick straight lashes that point down. I really need some ideas! Thanks

@LillyandHobo

I think it's a matter of matching the size and shape of the eyelash curler to the size and shape of your eyes.  I have stick straight lashes that point down, too.  Without curling, it looks as if I have no lashes.

I have a zip lock bag filled with curlers that didn't work, including Shu and other highly recommended brands.  For years I used a Revlon curler that fit my eyes perfectly and curled my lashes beautifully. But then the rubber cushions wore out and I couldn't find any that fit.

Recently I picked up a Walgreens brand curler, of all things, and it's working better than all of the more expensive ones.  I ran back the next day to buy a backup, and the young woman checking me out said that she loved that curler, too.  The other thing I'd highly recommend is waterproof mascara, because it "locks in" the curl.  Good luck!

Re: Eyelash curlers that work!

@LillyandHobo  - another recommendation of the Shu Uemura lash curler. No issues with lash breakage.

But, I encourage you to try mascaras that offer a curling effect. I was skeptical,  but really pleased with a Mally curling mascara several years ago - unfortunately not available anymore.

Highly pleased and recommend Benefit Roller Lash.  HSN offers irt occasionally at fab event pricing. They also sell a small travel size if you want to try it. Free shipping and H is great about beauty returns. Think about it! I no longer use a lash curler

In February,  the twofer was offered at HSN event pricing of $27, free shipping.  And the single was sold at $13 during the Christmas holiday. You can read reviews at HSN - it's a highly rated mascara

Here is the link to the HSN page for these 3 items

Re: Eyelash curlers that work!

I have the Shueumura and one from a drug store. Two totally different price points, but work the same.  Both came with replacement rubber pads. Look for one that comes with the pads.

Only use an eyelash curler on clean lashes.  Any mascara or primer, even if it is still wet is going to get gunked up on the curler, pull at your lashes and break them. Then bacteria is going to grow on the curler.  The rubber pads do break down, making them hard to sanitze, especially if old mascara is in there.

Your lashes are just like your hair.  You need to take good care of them.  Use a serum or put a little oil on your finger tip and apply to your lashes every night to help condition them.

When you curl the lashes, do one pinch at the base.  Hold it for a few seconds.  Then curl it again half way up your lashes.  Don't pinch too hard.  Be gentle and hold it for varying number of seconds to see if that helps.  press lighter, hold longer is more gentle.

Then apply a curling mascara.  The way they work is, as the formula dries, the formula shrinks and cause the lashes to curl up.

hope this helps
