Eye Shadow Recommendation for Over 50ish

Anyone have a recommendation for a great eye shadow for those of us over 50 that have not so firm skin on eyelids? I'm thinking something without glitter or sparkle and preferably not heavy but a more sheer color with some coverage to conceal the over 50 skin.

There are a lot of great shadows out there and the IT Cosmetics Pallette has great reviews. All matte with onditoner shimmer to mix w them if you want. I, personally, would like to mention that all matte looks too dry on me, so on my 45 yr old eyes, I think a touch of shimmer is beautiful and just gives light to the look -also some dimension. Check out some you tube videos of the palette!

The IT eyeshadows really do flatter the eyes without that overdone shimmery look. Even shimmer tones in Jamie's trios lay down so soft the shimmer is barely detectable.

I agree with CC that there's this misconception that ladies over a certain age can't wear any sheen and look best in all matte. Nothing is 100% across the board, but many of those older eyes are enhanced with a little extra sheen on the eyes. It doesn't have to be all over, but there has to be some light brought to the eye area. I notice that a lot of women who opt for all matte eye makeup look dull and tired.

The eye shadow chubby sticks by Clinique have some nice colors which are sheer and have only a little sheen to them. I love the way they blend and are more sheer than a powder. A few of them have more sparkle that I prefer, but not all of them.

Paulas Choice Nude Matte palette. Use a discount code when ordering. I didn't think I would use all the colors but I do. One of the best palettes I own.

Also adding, there is a slight shimmer color to add to the mattes if you wish. Lovely.

I have the It Cosmetics palette the other posters are talking about and reach for Paulas all the time. It's better in my opinion.

Flower brand at WalMart has some beautiful cream shadows that just give a glow to the eyelid (even on my old crepey lids). I love Wild Geranium & Mum's The Word. I agree with CCBeauty that I like a little sheen on my lids, but not next to the lash line. I have to have a matte next to my lashes or it emphasizes the uneveness of the lid. I use mainly Mac as my powder shadows. They have most any color or texture that I want.

I have green eyes - very green - and I always wear something in the purple family to bring out the green - however, as I get older I like it to be more sheer. Lately a quad pack with no glimmer from Avon. I use the darkest color as eyeliner(wet) and the 2 medium colors for eyeshadow - I use the white color on those spots on the inside of the eye where it is always dark.

The PC matte palette would be a good choice.

My favorite, though, are Laura Mercier powder shadows. They are expensive but well worth it. The formula just seems to be tailor-made for more mature eyes -- super smooth and creamy. And they have a very sophisticated selection of shades.

They come in different finishes. I have mostly matte but also a couple in the satin finish.

I have several NYX eyeshadows, but IT's are the best and certainly my favorite. I've got the Naturally Pretty Matte Luxe Pallet - grab for that one more than anything. I'm also seriously considering getting Jamie's other eyeshadow trios that come with the no-tug brush. I already have one and it's fabulous! Even if you went with another brand of shadow, investing in that brush is worth it.
