Eye Make Up Residue...Any Suggestions

I am not a daily wearer of eye makeup, but recently I wanted to do a little extra on a daily basis, I'm talking mascara and liner,but usually the mascara wins out. But I find it to be a pain to remove it. I use Almay Eyemake up remover(oil free version). Which is a good remover but I still have this darkish cast under my eyes not like a black eye or anything but the residue bugs me. I don't want to keep wiping and wiping under my eyes but it bugs me. Needless to say I've stopped dolling up my eyes for nowWink Is this par for the course?
