Exfoliation & Fake Tans?

I would like just a bit of color. I don't want to look like I've changed my race, or well done like those show hosts. Thanks to a recommendation here I'm using and love those Salux wash clothes which can be quite rough. Wouldn't that take off any fake tan though? I use that cloth daily. Really wakes me up in the morning.
