Ever Been Duped by a Cosmetic Dupe?

My fave lipstick ever is Mac "O". It is the perfect color IMO. Just enough pink/berry tones to wear with cool color clothing, just enough tawny/brown/gold to wear with warm tone clothes and looks great with red clothing. And because it's blue based, it makes teeth look whiter. This is the only shade of lipstick I have repeatedly bought and it always draws compliments.

Months ago I happened to be on a website that listed drugstore dupes for dept. store products and the site listed Revlon Cooperglow Berry as a dupe of Mac "O." I was shopping Saturday and picked up a tube.

I just tried it last night and this isn't even close. There is little to no gold in it whatsoever, no hints of red and not enough pink/berry tones. It just looks brown and muddy and flat.

So instead of spending the $14.50 for the tube of the real deal, I wasted $6.00 plus tax on a tube that is going in the trash and I have to spend the $14.50 anyhow. Definitely not one of my better moves!
