Why did you get the TSV then if you say you have good skin??

Re: Empty Words, empty pockets

Cosmetic companies will pretty much push the edge of advertising and claim most anything that they can get away with legally.

Dr Perricone has terrible acne scarring which is why I think he's never on air. His skin couldn't possibly stand the scrutiny of HD TV. His print ads a few years ago and book covers are so heavily photoshopped that he looks unbelieveable.

Perricone is sold in Canada on The Shopping Channel and they have a different vendor -- Dayna Devon is the spokesperson. She's isn't believeable either..I remember when she had a very short lived reality show with her plastic surgeon husband. I think her visage owes more to him than any skin care regimen.

At 81 I'm still gullable, and know using creams will give you beautiful skin, but not get rid of or prevent wrinkles.  I would not be getting botox and fillers since my 70's.  Dr. D would not have gotten a facelift or eye lift.  I love her products and get compliments on my beautiful skin, yet between her and Perricone,, I have to start at dinner time putting on my night regium.  She has her infusion oil, Hydroshield serum, emulsion face and eye.  I have to be careful I don't slid out of bed in the middle of the night and break a hip.

In the morning, between Hydroshield, dream cream, perricone firming finishing face cream, etc.  My skin is beautiful, but when to stop and say, I'm old, one or two creams should be sufficent.  My mother and grandmother used Ponds for everything.  Good skin, little wrinkles.  No anti aging then.  My fault for believing the hype and hoping FOR WHAT?

Ladies, do what you have to do or not, but don't fall for it like I did.  I am going to have withdrawal symptons when all this is finish.

I'm a little younger than you (not much) and I have quite a regimen too.  I say, stay with it.  I think it does make some difference.  Can't make us look 25, but I think having smooth skin, etc. is important and makes me feel better.  Can't stop all the wrinkles, but it does help somewhat.    I know some ladies that are the same age (as each other).  The one that wears lipstick and make-up looks many years younger than the one that does nothing and I don't think has ever treated herself to even a drugstore face cream.

Re: Empty Words, empty pockets

Sure, our grandmothers and mothers may have used Ponds or Vaseline or Oil of Olay exclusively, but who can say whether they would've opted for those products to begin with if retinol and peptides and newer formulas had existed in their day. They chose what was best for them given their possibilities and circumstances. We can certainly emulate that today by also choosing wisely from what is available now.

I have fallen for the hype too. I do wish a poster would tell us how they capture hydrogen and oxygen in a cream, it does not sound logical. Another story that I find odd when they say they import special water from some far off land.

I think I remember Debbie Reynolds say once she used Vaseline every night from head to toe, always wondered how she kept the sheets clean.

Water is H2O - 2 hydrogen molecules attached to one oxygen molecule --Hydrogen peroxide is H2O2 , 2 hydrogen molecules attached to 2 oxygen molecules.

I never bought into the hype or used much other than drugstore brands (and not too much of that) until I began shopping at QVC in the early 90's.   I think I've tried at least half of the brands they have sold through the years.   (I was around 50 when I began shopping at QVC)

My skin care is a ritual for me.  I started looking at ingredients and learning about products a few years ago and I honestly think my skin looks better than it did 20 years ago.  I've learned how to treat hyperpigmentation, clogged pores ,how to use the correct sunscreen, retinol, vitamin C, etc.  I enjoy using my products and would not want to slap some vaseline or cold cream on my face at night - I'd be a zitty mess!

@Phantom41  ITA

I actually use the Erno Laszlo double cleansing ritual and have seen improvement in skin issues such as hyperpigmentation.

I also use Perricone Neuropeptide products and my skin is smooth and calm.

I have rosacea, a compromised skin barrier due to Efudex tx for skin cancer and have had no problems w/reactions, breakouts or rosacea flares, so it's all good for me.

@AmericanBulldogMom...I was hoping for help with very fine lines and perhaps tightening of my jawline. My skin has always been very good as far as being even-toned and no discolorations. I guess I was drawn in by the "drama" claims.

My mother & her 8 sisters (inc. the one still living is 87 and has beautiful skin) all used nothing but Ponds cream.

My sister still uses Ponds cream and in her  50s has skin as smooth as a baby!

Me (age 61) on the other hand, fell for the hype and started using different product lines. Used to love face products from Philosophy (over 6 years) but got terrible clogged pores, acne & more -- went to dermatologist for the last 2 years - now I  only use Cetaphil and my skin is finally looking great again!!!

I totally understand the hype -- cosmetics is a billion $$$ industry ...I want to have those great eyelashes too!!!!

I saw a gorgeous 100 year old Chinese woman on television once, and they asked her what her secret was ...

Vaseline!

what! You mean it wasn't aaaaarrrrgon oil? lol
