Re: Early morning routine help

@Still Raining

 3 hours each way

Oh my gosh!  I can't even imagine.  My husband used to drive 2 hours each way, fighting D/FW traffic.  That was just to get to the shop.  Then it could be up to another hour to the job site.  Now his commute is an hour but still has to get to the jobsite.

[ Edited ]

I'm sorry you're struggling, the change is difficult for me too....always hot, even hotter sleeping so used a cold pack in my pillow & a fan set on low...my hair is thick & fine so had it cut in layers, washed & set in rollers nightly so it was ready to go in the morning after a quick shower & I also learned how to do an easy updo with a hair clip...my makeup was limited to mineral powder foundation, eyebrow pencil, mascara & a lip stain...set my clothes out the night before...had hard boiled eggs ready for breakfast too. Out the door is less than 30 minutes without rushing. Hope this helps, I wish you the best @SandGirl

I thought about deleting this post since I'm finding that most are just judging me in the wrong way

This forum is very judgemental.  I learned the hard way too, over and over again.

@monicakm  I'm learning that as well. I just thought there would be others that went through similar and would have suggestions. Some have given very good suggestions and I'm going to make some changes.

It's up and out of the way but looks nicer than a ponytail IMO.  It's been decades since I had hair long enough for that but used to wear it like that, with the tendrils and bangs.

I hear you about a good job and a bad commute.  Finally cut a deal for fewer days/equal hours.  On a really, really bad day it could be 3 hours each way.  Actually stopped for food midway often.

So you are left your hair care.  Ditch your current style.  You are more interesting, worthwhile and well groomed than any style.  For sure.

@Still Raining  Its horrible and we have lived in the same house for 17 years so moving is just not an option this late in life PLUS a home like ours is going for way more than 2 times what we paid for it.

Yes, I'm going to have to do something diff. with the hair, I think that is what all this is boilign down to. I'm going to look at shoulder length styles and see if my stylist can help me.  The rest of my routine doesn't take long. My skin care takes longer than my makeup haha  I really dont' wear much makeup.  Dusting of powder foundation, tiny bit of bronzer, mascara, dab of liquid blush and lipgloss applied in the car ha!

My sympathy to your DH.  At least I got mileage since it was to a client.

Bet he got used to the hardcore commuters, at 4:30 AM they are all business.   Got so I was too scared to drive a freeway on Sunday, all the crazies were out.

Re: Early morning routine help

@SandGirl  please do not " re wire " yourself. You are who you are.

you're going thru " the change" it hits us all differently. All my adult life

I've had " high visibility " jobs where appearance was mandatory. As some

one who had the bad commute, the hair just "so", and makeup mantra

I can very much understand where you're coming from.

Try cutting in stages, I went shoulder length  with layers. Drastic can be

overwhelming if your in the middle of hormone flux.
And ya it's just hair and "it will grow back" but if you have a lot on your plate

already, it's not fun in the waiting period.... no "re wire" just update the outlets😍

You got this!!

Cut yourself some slack.  You deserve a good sit down every evening.  Another thing I did was to hire a housekeeper, a wonderful thing if you can budget.

@MalibuFox   YES!!! And, thank you so much for understanding. Sometimes I wish I was in a job that I was in a warehouse where nobody cares and I can just do whatever to get by. I'm in front of Leadership daily, Executives and upper Management. "Most" look "just so" each day, it's the type of job I am in.  Going through the change has just made everything more difficult, I used to get at the very least 6 to 7 hours sleep each night and now I barely get 5 with the hot flashes and waking up over the smallest noise and cannot get back to sleep, and by the time I do it's time to get up!  The struggle is real!  THANK YOU for understanding and for your input.
