Curious if anyone uses the ratings of the Enivironmental Working Group (EWG) to help in deciding between various skin care products.
I'm relatively new to using the EWG's Skin Deep database and wondering what ratings you feel comfortable with. In other words, 3 and above? 4 and above? Of course, everyone is unique though. Totally understand. But, I figure some of you are very knowledgeable in the world of beauty products and might be concerned with potentially toxic chemicals in products.

Yes I am. I consult these ratings fairly often and most of the time I am surprised by the ratings some of products have.
One of the most surprising, to me,was finding out any fragrance in products is immediately considered toxic.

none of it

No, I don't look for EWG rated products. EWG is not a reliable organization. They exaggerate risks which causes unnecessary fear and alarm. They accept funds from companies that influence their findings instead of reporting facts based on science. No, just no.
ETA-
If referencing EWG (or other similar sites) makes you feel more confident to use or not to use a product, then there's nothing wrong with that. I just don't put all of my trust in any one of them really but each offers their own bit of helpful info...take it or leave it.

Yes I do check their lists. It is a resource not the Bible. It is one of the places where I read and weigh everything together to try to make better choices. In the past three years, my husband and I have lost weight and look a lot better.
I have been very careful about what I buy in the last three years--foods, cleaning products especially and anything going on my skin. More skin care and cleaners than makeup.
I don't wear enough makeup to worry about it a lot and now I don't have to. My skin is great after I quit putting harsh ingredients on it. I only use a little concealer here and there sometimes.
No talc for me for sure though. I don't want to inhale that stuff.

I've been using it a lot lately to look for a good sunscreen for my legs/arms. Difficult to find one that's sold by a major retailer. Most approved ones are only sold on their own company websites.

No. I use INCI a lot, but it's not for evaluating safety.

I sometimes check their listing to understand why an ingredient is added and what it's function/benefit is. But some listings seem more like the sky is falling scares.

@Icegoddess INCI is one I use often as well.
