I have been using WEN for awhile now and have developed a really dry scalp. Why is this? Anyone else having this issue?

Tea tree is recommended for those with scalp issues.

I did not experience a dry, flaky scalp when using Wen but I did have a flaky, dry scalp a few years ago.

I did some research & then started using a white vinegar/water final rinse. I would leave it on for a while before rinsing it off. I think the problem was gone in about two weeks but I used the rinse a bit longer than that.

Many use the vinegar rinse regularly as a conditioner. It gives hair a nice shine, too. And hair does not smell like vinegar.

It could be because you're allergic to one of its ingredients -- Methylisothiazolinone. My dh developed dry and an intensely itchy scalp when he used Wen. I bought a 5-piece variety box and he tried each one. As soon as he stopped using Wen the itching stopped and his scalp is no longer dry. Interesting enough, on page 140 of the June edition of Shape magazine there is an article about disposable, pre-moistened wipes (used for makeup and TP substitute). There is a preservative ingredient called Methylisothiazolinone (MI) which seems to be the cause of people developing rashes on the face, hands, buttocks and private parts. Article states even though you may have been "using the wipes for years it usually takes dozens or even hundreds of uses before the immune system begins to become allergic to MI." This preservative is "used in a growing number of personal products as a replacement for parabens, . . ." Wen, along with a number of other products like baby wipes, body cleansing washes, etc , contains Methylisothiazolinone (MI). It is listed as the last ingredient on the Wen bottle. HTH

I use tea tree and fig. I cleanse, rinse and repeat. I put a dime size of the cleanser in my hair after cleansing as recommended. I use wen mousse and styling creme.

You may be either using too little or maybe too much and not rinsing out enough.

What's your hair length and type? How much cc are you using for each cleanse.

How much of each styling product? Do you use them together or separately?

The other thing is you could be allergic.

I use the same CCs (TT and Fig). When I wasn't rinsing enough, my scalp got very itchy.

Get your flu shot...because I didn't.
