Re: Dry Lips - Vaseline versus Aquaphor - Good to know

I use Bert's Bee's "Red Dahlia Tinted Lip Balm and have tried Beekman's lip balms, which were very moisturizing and good.

Re: Dry Lips - Vaseline versus Aquaphor - Good to know

I got a new tattoo a couple of weeks ago and was told to cleanse with antibacterial soap and put a thin veil of Aquaphor on it a few times a day until it healed.  Since I have a tube, I'll try the Aquaphor at bedtime tonight. 💋

@San Antonio Gal

I agree Aquaphor is great and has added moisture. I use both (aquaphor and vaseline) as occlusives over my moisturizer when my skin needs extra TLC.Woman Happy

I use this Aquaphor in a stick balm. It's like a huge lip balm but softer.

@SilleeMee  - do you use this larger balm form on your lips too?

@San Antonio Gal

Yes, I use it on any area that is dry and needs an occlusive.

I like both Vaseline intensive therapy in a tube and Aquaphor. They both work well for me and I use one or the other every night.

I'll stick with my Vaseline.

A great substitute to petroleum jelly yet with a similar feel is Beekman's Wonder Milk. It's free of petroleum. Ingredients are mostly sunflower seed oil, shea butter, and palm oil plus other ingredients including goat milk. I have it in a 16oz jar and it lasts FOREVER. I use it on lips, cuticles, elbows, heels but could use it anywhere.

The dermatologist gave me a small tube of Aquaphor to use on the incision after removing a large mole on my back.  I figure if it's good enought for the dermatologist, I'm not going to avoid it.

Many of the hairball remedies for cats contain petrolatum/mineral oil which is ingested.  I have no issue with either product.

I use Vaseline because Aquaphor contains petroleum jelly anyway, plus lanolin.

I have a wool allergy, so I'd prefer just to use the plain petroleum jelly.

Vaseline is used in the healing of wounds too, in a hospital setting. When I was going to a Wound Care Dept. for wound care treatment, the nurses would use it on my skin and if necessary as a barrier skin protector, too.
